Satoshi Odanaka

Language: Japanese

My name is Satoshi Odanaka (Member of Morioka Soukai and Kumomote Club).

I have been climbing mountains since I was 16, I have been to the Himalayas since I was 20, and I have been climbing walls since I was 21.
At the age of 17, I joined Morioka Soukai, and when I went to a winter training camp in the Northern Alps with my seniors, I felt the charm of mountaineering in the harsh winter mountains outside of the prefecture.
After that, I went through Iwate to the mountains and rock walls of the Northern Alps in my youth.

I was away from the mountains for a while at the same time as I became independent due to work, but when I went hiking to rehabilitate a broken leg, I was fascinated by the beauty of the mountains and returned to the mountains.

More than 30 years have already passed since the time when I climbed recklessly, but when I slipped back in time, there was youth when I was young.

Meeting and interacting with friends, learning about the beauty of nature, the greatness of nature, the splendor of mountains, and the harshness of mountains, I believe have supported my life up until now.

From now on, I would like to spend the rest of my life without regrets while touching the mountains.

We would appreciate it if you could feel free to participate, such as those who are interested in mountaineering, beginners, etc., not limited to mountains in Iwate Prefecture.

About this tour

More info ◎ View the world heritage beech virgin forest and the morning and evening of the Sea of Japan!

Shirakami-dake, which is registered as a World Heritage site, is a virgin beech forest and offers a 360-degree panorama from the summit.

I'll be staying at a shelter near the top, so I'll be happy if I can see the sunset and the sunrise.

When there is snow, cars cannot enter the parking lot below the trailhead, so you will have to walk for about 30 minutes from the end of the car. At the trailhead, the trail splits from the forked course and enters the Mt. When the beech forest begins to appear after a steep climb, you will reach 841m Mt.

The ridgeline leading to Mt. Omine can be seen on the left, but the ridgeline of Mt. Shirakami cannot be seen for a while. Climbing up and down the ridge while looking at the beautiful beech forest, there is a peak of 977m, and finally the summit ridgeline can be seen and the Sea of Japan can be seen.

After a steep climb, you will reach the Omine junction, and Mt. Behind it, the white summit of Mt. Iwaki sticks out in the distance.

When you climb to the peak just before Mt. Shirakami from the Omine junction, you can finally see Mt. Shirakami, and you can see a toilet and an evacuation hut just before the summit. We will be staying here today.

The summit offers a 360-degree panorama of Mt. Mukaishirakami and Mt. Iwaki, and the Sea of Japan is beautiful. At dusk, you want to watch the sun set slowly over the Sea of Japan.

The shelter is a small three-story building, and I want to talk about the mountains while enjoying dinner. Since the toilet is outside, I finished using the toilet while gazing at the stars and got into my sleeping bag.

Watch the sunrise, have a leisurely breakfast, and descend the course you came yesterday.
On the way back, wash off your sweat at Hachimori Yukko Land, a communal bath with natural hot spring water, before heading home.

◎ The following courses are planned.

Day 1: Morioka -> trailhead - Nimata - Mt. Mt. Omine - Mt. Shirakami - evacuation hut (overnight stay)
Day 2: Evacuation hut - Mt. Higashiyama - Trailhead -> Bathing -> Morioka

* Please note that the tour information shows the walking time, and the time required from the actual meeting to the end of the tour may take longer depending on the weather and tour conditions.

◎ The event is held from December 1st to March 25th every year. Please inquire about the date and time at Higaeri's "Request for desired date and time".
