Language: Japanese

I'm Hitoshi Sugawara, who runs the pottery studio Jin no Sato in Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture. I was born in Ichinoseki City in 1961 and joined the former Japanese National Railways Sendai Shinkansen Construction Bureau as a technician. Joined the former Ministry of Transport (currently the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) due to the reform of the National Railways. While engaged in railway-related work in Tokyo, his passion for pottery gradually grew stronger.

After taking care of his parents, he quit his job as a civil servant and returned to his hometown of Ichinoseki. Currently, in order to give back to the hometown where I was born and raised, I am also working on promoting regional exchanges. The name Jin no Sato comes from my great-grandfather's shikona, who played an active part in this region where local sumo wrestling was popular before the tournament.

By valuing the sense of courage and peace, movement and tranquility, we aim to be a place where people gather, relax, exchange information, and disseminate information. did. Please come and visit us once.

More info Pottery experience ☆ "Hand forming pottery experience" at a pottery studio with a slightly nostalgic atmosphere built using the materials of the wooden school building of "Former Mataki Junior High School"! I think it will be a great memory of Iwate and a great gift for someone special♪ On the day of the event, our experienced guides will help you complete the work you want to make.

If you face the soil, you will definitely have a good time! Even after completion, the fun will be revived when using the work. Please feel free to come to such a world of pottery. "Tebineri", which can be slowly molded, is a technique that is easy for beginners to try. Why don't you choose your favorite "clay color" and "glaze color" and create your favorite work?

[Things you can make]

You can use clay (1kg for adults, 500g for children) to make 3 cups, 2 teacups, 1 large plate, and 2 mugs. It takes about 60 to 90 days for the work to be baked. You can choose to pick up the completed work at the experience location at a convenient time or send it (please pay the shipping fee separately)!
