I'm Kyoji Tabata, the representative of "Akari Design Studio", which offers a light handmade Japanese paper experience in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City. Before starting the workshop, I worked for a dyeing company. They deal with traditional Japanese things, and also use that technology to create wall decorations for the interior. It was there that I encountered washi by chance, and was fascinated by the unique atmosphere of washi.
I also realized that Japanese paper can express various atmospheres by allowing light to pass through it, and the power of lighting to control space. I am particular about making lighting with Japanese paper.
All the handmade Japanese papers I use are original. The expression of paper changes in various ways depending on how it is cut, and it is truly infinite. By combining the unique Japanese paper and the light source, you can bring out even more multifaceted appeal. Please join us for the experience.
